What's the World Getting To?

There was a recent news clipping on TV the other day depicting an elderly man being knocked-down by a car, and no one bothered to come to his aid. Does this sound familiar? Too many news about samaritans coming to aid someone-in-need, and got robbed or even murdered for their kind deed. Such news have deterred many people from doing the RIGHT thing. Would this spiral to a world with diminishing humanity? Or worse, one void of humanity? I'm told that the world CAN be a more loving and better place by Eckhart Tolle in his book entitled A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.
