School Conference and More....

Today is Parents-Teachers Conference Day at the boys' school. Actually, they call it Home-Teacher conference Day as they wanted to involve the student in the process as well. But I decided to leave both boys behind so that the teacher can be more "truthful" with their comments.

As expected, S2 got great comments from his teacher. He's in the top Math group, his reading capabilities are a year more advance than expected. He is inquisitive etc etc....... except........You guessed it. "He's too chatty". I already knew that was the complaint. Told the teacher that this one, don't think can be helped!! If he can talk to himself in the car for two hours, what do you expect when you put him next to his pals?? Hahahahah.....

As for S1,...his Math teacher complaint about his untidy and his "un-orderly" work. He was okay with the untidiness but felt that S1 should "read, and plan his work before writing anything down". Actually, this is also my major problem with him when he does his Math at home. There is no order, and his workings are aaaaallll over the place. You really need to decipher what he has done. And this the teacher highlighted that he just could not afford the time to do that. But with all angmoh teachers, he said that we should also take note of what he can do well, and not only on his weaknesses...etc etc. And then added that S1's"enthusiam and attitude will serve him well in adulthood, and I can see where his enthusiam comes from!". I wonder...was I looking to happy and enthusiastic????

And then it was off to S1's Class teacher. Again..."lovely boy to have in my class" and the complaint? He can be distracted and lose focus in class, and would have to be brought back into focus. Donno why...but have this "Mork calling Orson. Come-in Orson!!" line in my mind when the teacher said that he had to bring him "back". Heee heee

As I was leaving the school, I met a friend with her Year 3 daughter. Our convo:

Girl's Mom - Finished with your older son's teacher.
Me - Yup. Teacher complaint about his blah blah blah.
Girl - Who is she talking about?
Girl's Mom - S1. You know..S2's brother.
Girl - All the girls in Year 3 likes him.
Me - Is it? Why do they like him?
Girl - Because they say that he is very handsome!
Me - You are in Year 3. Do you like him.
Girl - *Grinned*
Girl's Mom - S2 not handsome?

Hahahah..... My S1 very malu (shy) about this. I told him that now he may be malu, but in a couple of years time, he will be very proud of this!!! Hahhaha

If I tell H, he sure will say "of course handsome what. My son! Just like the father!" kekekekeke

Oh... speaking of HANDSOME arr... aye.. both S1 and S2's class teacher also quite good-looking leh. Eye-Candy quality okay.. *wink* *wink*... maybe I should go to school more often!!! Hahahahahah (Err.. As for S1's Math Teacher - normal teacher look lor...)

Berlin & Vienna

{Sponsored Post}

Berlin and Vienna...What do you know about these two cities? Other than that they are the capital cities of Germany and Austria respectively?

When one mentions Berlin, we immediately think of the Berlin Wall; the visible division between the East and the West during the Cold War. But there is more to Berlin than the Berlin Wall, whereby only a small section remains today. Berlin is a city culturally rich with a vast number of museums, art galleries, opera houses, orchestras and theatres. There are over 170 museums in Berlin, showcasing centuries of art treasures and historical exhibitions. Today's contemporary artists are not left out either. The city is a real haven for music lovers, and is home to the world famous Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra. If you are thinking of visiting this fascinating city, there are many Hotels in Berlin that would cater to any budgets.

With Vienna...I would think Mozart and Strauss would instantly spring to mind. Like Berlin, Vienna is a city where music fills the air. Vienna is home to the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as a number of opera houses such as the Staatsoper and the Volksoper. With a history dating back to the Celtics in 500 BC, this historically-important city has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2001. Unique architechtural styles such as Romanesque Ruprechtskirche and Baroque Karlskirche are also found in Vienna. Even some Hotels in Vienna have these unique elements and features.

A visit to Western Europe would not be complete without visiting these two cities. Although the exchange rate to Euros is rather high at the moment, you can find still affordable Hotels in Berlin and Vienna. And if you are travelling last-minute, CheaperthanHotels.co.uk have further deals in both Hotels in Vienna and Berlin.

Beyonce Is Coming!

Yup! She has decided to skip KL and come here instead. Apparently, because she wasn't allowed to wear her usual outfits, and have to cover from her knees to her neck!! hahahaha. Anyway, I didn't know about the concert until S1 came home today and told me about it. I asked him "How come you know about all these things one ar??", and he just answered with a "from school lah...". Kids these days get so much info from school, don't you think? In my days, you just study study study in school.
Naturally, he wanted to go watch her perform. And added "Hannah Montana is going to perform in Los Angeles". Well, we are definitely NOT flying to LA to watch Hannah Montana so told him that if the Beyonce Concert tickets are affordable, then he can go watch her perform. BUT if it's too much, then sorry lah...
Oh... Just checked..the cheapest ticket also about USD 83/-. How to bring two boys?? Cannot lah.. So.. Forget about it ... The most expensive tickets? It's USD 330 each. Cialatt right? But I'm sure still got lots of people go watch her perform. T's mom was just telling me that some kids from school went to watch BLACK EYED PEAS (Errr.. Who are they? I really don't know...but apparently some US group. I soooo "sann-par", right?) the other day. Those kids had front row tickets with back-stage passes etc etc. And she had to tell her kids "honey, we are not in that league!". Well... have to tell my kids that too...when I tell them the bad news that we won't be watching BEYONCE.
Anyway, she's arriving tomorrow for her November 1st Concert.

Refinancing

{Sponsored Post}

We bought our house in PJ about 3 1/2 years ago, and have been paying the mortgage diligently every month. We have not really been following the current base lending rates nor the current refinancing packages that are being offered by the many mortgage lenders. My sister has just refinanced her home with another bank, and managed to save quite a bundle in the overall payments. Thus, she has been advising me to refinance with a different bank. The problem is that I am told that the new MyKad would need to be used for verification, and for the longest of time, H had not had a MyKad until recently. I guessed we should start looking into the various Mortgages options that are currently available in the financial marketplace. No point in paying more interest than required, right?

Charity Bazaar & Trade Expo

AWA Charity Bazaar
If you recall... I duh-duh went to this supposed AWA Charity Bazaar on the 2nd of October which was NOT to be. The Bazaar was actually on the 23rd, which I did go. So, this is quite outdated...

Well, have to pay about USD 9/- to get into this AWA Bazaar. When I first arrived in the country, and found out that I had to pay entrance fee to buy things, I was a wee bit shocked. Can you imagine Jaya Jusco charging you an entrance fee to get into their store?? Okay....lah. This is for charity. Plus you do get 2 pastries and a cup of coffee, when you need a breather after shopping till dropping!

Here is what I got...

Lucky Pick Prize - A lizard-shaped Candle Holder
~ USD 3/- for 3 Tickets. I paid for a total of 9 tickets. Managed to win this candle-holder and 2 Packs of Cinnamon Rolls. When I kepoh-ed, found out that my prizes costs about USD 35/-. So not a bad deal for forking out USD 9/-. Plus, my friend picked out a "3-D Puzzle Toy". Her kid is all grown-up. So I got a BONUS...Heheeheh.. Was timely too, as it was my maid's son's birthday. I gave the pressie to her. No need to buy. Heeheee

A Wood and Marble Chess Set
I was pretty happy with this purchase. The wooden base has drawers that stores the chess pieces that has been "eaten". Sorry...don't know what is the correct term. The chess pieces and the chequered base are from marble. Why did I buy this? The kids are into Chess now... and H has been playing with them. Encouraging the kids to play as it gets them thinking about strategies and such. S2 just learned how to play, and H says that his moves are quite good as his pieces are generally well-protected. (Whatever that means?!?!?@)

Bird-Cage Table Lamp
Thought it looked kinda nice....

Trade Expo
Went to the Trade Expo last Saturday (27 Oct). S2 tagged along... Why? Because he wanted to skive from doing his Maths!!! Salah besar to let him tag along. On the way there, I think he asked "Are we there yet?" more than ten times. And you know lah.. the traffic here can be quite bad. Plus the Expo was on the other side of town. And then he was like whinging "why soooooo far???"...

Waaaa... they had a lot of NICE NICE furniture! The ones that you see in those Spa and Beach Resort magazines. The Amandari Banyan Tree type of furniture and bathroom accessories. I won't be surprised if furniture from Habitat or Pottery Barn comes from here. Just OEM them. Know what I mean? As it's a trade expo, ie. mainly for foreign importers, quite a lot of stuff were not for sale to the public. I actually saw this pair of carved wooden dancers (wall hanging ornament) for less than USD 10/- but they were not for sale. *sob* *sob* .. Unless you wanna buy 100 pairs of them!

Have to say S2 behaved quite well lah.. Did walk with me through the rows and rows of booths. As alot of the furiture looks similar (wood/rattan/water-hyacinth/etc), he kept on saying "Mom! We've gone through here already!!". I have a very systematic way of going through such expos... I weave in a zig-zag way. This way, I won't miss any rows.
There were all sorts of stuff on exhibit (and some for sale).. foods, drinks, plasticware, glassware, handicrafts, hospital equipment, industrial items, furniture etc etc... What I bought?? Not much also lah..
A pair of Traditional Puppets
Really can move the head and arms one.. but of course I am keeping boys awaaaaay!! Yes. They did mention that they want to perform with them. BUT NO WAY, JOSE!!
Paintings of the Balinese Barong
Initially, wanted to buy only one. But when he offered to sell the pair of them for USD 25/-, I had to grab them.
Framed Picture of Balinese Dancers
Only RM 40/-. Sure gasak also, right?

Well, this time...H said that my purchases were ALRIGHT. Not my usual "rubbish"!

:-P

Art and Craft Room

{Sponsored Post}

You know what ?
It would be really great if I could convert my garage in a room purely for my art and craft projects. A room ONLY for me, where my creative juices can flow. You see...I dabble in all sorts of arty-crafty things, and thus have quite a lot of materials that H classify as my "rubbish". I've got tubes of oil paints, acrylics, watercolours, bottles of retardant and brushes of various sizes for my painting. I've got scrapbooking paper, card stock and such for my scrapbooking. Beads, strings, pliers, scissors for my beading. Some fabrics, ribbons and sewing machine to try my hand to sew some tablecloth... And the list goes on. So, I really do NEED a room for me. There are some garage cabinets that are just right to store my "rubbish". They can be neatly organized in their own cabinet, and clearly labelled with SCRAPBOOKING, OIL PAINTING, SEWING, BEADING etc. And I even could have a colour coordinated workbench for creating my masterpieces!

Cialatt!!

Cham liow... I just noticed that my Google PR has dropped to 2 oni wor... This was originally at PR 4. Normally, I won't care lah. But this means that the available opportunities to blog for $$$ diminish significantly!!! Already very few opps as:
  1. Not based in the US nor Canada.
  2. Do not have OWN domain.
  3. Using Blogspot.
So...now with this PR 2 aje, lagi less opps to do....

Hopefully, my CON-Sultan job is gonna pick up speed soon! (BTW, I am still waiting for my pay check for September leh....) Then, at least also not so sore that I have less $$$ from blogging ler. :-P Otherwise, poor H will have to give me more and more $$$!!!

TV Consoles....

For the longest of time, H has been looking for the RIGHT console for his TV. We went to many furniture shops but nothing seems to suit his fancy. And since he hadn't found the right one, he actually made-do with his Plasma TV sitting on top of the removal boxes. He just stuffed the empty boxes with books to make it more sturdy. I wonder if he would like consoles with built-in tv lifts. It is stylish and yet conveniently stores the tv away when you don't require it. A great piece to have!

Apa lah?? - Updated with Pix

As usual, I was barking at the boys to brush their teeth, pee and to get ready for bed yesterday. And then S1 suddenly screamed "Aye...why soooo much hair in the bath tub one?"... and I turned to look. Waaaaaaah....really soooo much hair in the bath tub, and I immediately turn to S2. Aiyooooooo....that fella went to cut his own hair. Now got a lubang on top of his head liow. So UGLY! I asked him why did he do it. And his answer was "my hair something wrong!". What can be so wrong that he needs to cut his own hair? .... *sigh* What to do? Wait for that lubang to grow back out lah.

See the lubang????

On a different note, I have recently changed my key chain to one with the word DIVA (This H lah... lost one small part of my Tiffany&Co key chain so cannot use already).

DIVA KeyChain
Every morning, as S2 leaves the house to get on the bus, he'll announce "MOM. YOU ARE NOT A DIVA!!!". And this morning, S2 went out with me to a Trade Expo. As I was locking the door, again he announced "MOM. YOU ARE NOT A DIVA".

This time, I asked him "why am I not a Diva?".

S2 - Because you are not a SuperStar. You a just a Plain Mom!

*Sigh* In a split second, I have to come down to earth...and be a PLAIN MOM!

Ink Cartridges

{Sponsored Post}

Don't you hate it?
Having to buy printer cartridges ever so often?
It seems like I just replaced the colour cartridge in my HP printer the other day, and now it is giving me signals that the ink cartridge is empty. And these cartridges don't come cheap! I really have to utilise Cartridge Finder to find the best prices for these cartridges. I hope I can save a bundle!

Multiple Wives....

Actually, yesterday... I felt compelled to write a post about how men would favour their second wives more than the first. And how they would disregard the "existence" of the first, let alone treat the wives equally. But then decided against it.

Somehow, this morning...I don't know how it started but the boys were talking about men having loads of wives. Started with S1 saying some guy having 1000 wives. And of course S2 queried if that is possible. And of course, me being me...started to explain that in many societies, it is illegal to have more than one wife, blah blah blah.. and proceeded to explain the historical background of why Muslim men are allowed 4 wives, and how they would have to treat them all equally blah blah blah. And I highlighted that many actually abuse this "polygamy law" and how difficult it was to treat all the wives equally. And I went on and on...trying to explain more. So... I used an example and asked S1:

Me - Say, you have 4 wives. How are you going to spend time with them?
S1 - One for each day.
Me - But there are only 7 days in a week. One a day, that leaves 3 days free. What happens if you really need to spend with one wife in those 3 days?
S1 - Then I try and suffer and be alone lah.

Well, that's a ten-year old's explanation. In real life, you think that will happen?????? Sure the favorite one will get the MOST nights, right?

Lam yan hai peen sum keh!

Touristy London

{Sponsored Post}

Although I lived in London for 4 years, I didn't really do much of the touristy stuff. For example, I've never been to the Kew Gardens nor Hampton Court Palace nor the Tate Gallery. I never felt the urge to visit these places then. But now, living in a city 6000 miles away, I am kicking myself and wondering why didn't I visit all these place while living in London? There is still so much to explore in London. So much to do. So much to see.

The next time I visit London, other than visiting the places mentioned above, a soaring ride up in the London Eye is a Must. As well as a leisurely cruise down the River Thames. A stroll through Hyde Park to reminiscence about my time in London would also be quite nice. If season permits, a tour inside Buckingham Palace would be a bonus!

But when am I visiting London next? Perhaps when my sister gets married to her Englishman? Hey sis! You reading this?? I don't suppose the whole gang can squeeze into your London apartment ...so guessed we'll have to check ourselves into affordable London Accommodation that is in a convenient location, and next to a Tube Station! Better start looking out for the potential candidates.

Wedding of the Century?

Okay..it sounds weird that I am talking about a wedding now, and about my maternal grandpa's passing a few days back.....If there were more weddings, I could maybe give the title of "Four Weddings and a Funeral" to this post.

Anyway, H has just flown back to KL this evening to attend his friend's wedding which will be taking place tomorrow. Prior to this, he was frequently conversing with his friend in HK on their travel and lodging plans etc etc, as his friend would be flying in from HK. These two men fussed so much over the wedding that us wives have dubbed this the wedding of the century. And H concurred with it..... This soon-to-be groom is the last bachelor of their "kau-koh" (Hokkien term. Don't know the translation to English nor Cantonese) group. So...all the guys are really "kann-cheong" that their friend is finally getting hitched. Even more so than their own weddings! Yes. I am serious here!
Well, I guessed other than attending the wedding, H has other chores to do....like stocking up our larder with Maggi Mee, Bak-Chang, Yong-Thum, EuYanSang PoYingTan. Plus he's got the very important task of applying for his MYKAD on Monday morning. Yeah lah..this fella is waaaaaaaay behind in this application. Gonna get tangkap liow!!!

Phoenicians

At a first glance on the word "Phoenicians", I have visions of ancient greek goddesses. But did you know that residents of Phoenix, Arizona are also known as "Phoenicians"? I wouldn't mind being known as a "Phoenician". But that would mean that I have to get a piece of prime Phoenix real estate and relocate over there. With numerous Fortune 1000 companies calling it home, I am sure it is a city with loads of opportunities.

Using Hoodia?

I've just finished my multi-vitamins, and was at the pharmacy to get more. I was browsing the shelves on the various supplements available, and something caught my eye. The word hoodia rang a bell. I read about hoodia being an effective weight loss supplement, by suppressing one's appetite. Even with my frequent trips to the gym, my weight is still unchanged to date. Thus, I am actually quite tempted to try out hoodia. But there are so many brands in the market. Which would be the best? With maximum efficiency with minimum side-effects and costs?

Allergies

Finally..... I went to have myself tested at the allergy clinic today. They used a German technique that uses the natural electromagnetic waves found in compounds against the ones in the body. You can read up more about this type of alternative healing under "Bio-Resonance" or "Bicom 2000".

My body is found to be allergic to dust, mold, human dander, shrimp, crab, MSG, formaldehye, snapper and another type of fish. Was a little disappointed when the result for shrimp and crab were positive :-( . Started on the treatment today as well. It may sound like hocus-pocus to most people, but my friend's son underwent the therapy and she says it works. So, I thought I will give it a try since my feet is still giving me so much problems.

For the allergy testing, basically there is a gadget that is held between the body and the "item to be tested". It is believed that all compounds have their natural electromagnetic wave pattern (remember Physics? Resonance etc?), and if the body is tolerant to that compound, it will somehow attract it, and if not, repels it.

I supposed the hospitalization episode in December 2005 was due to my BAD allergic reaction to formaldehyde in the fish that I had eaten. I did recall that the fish (Not sushi. Cooked at one of the 'popular' seafood restaurant in Sunway Pyramid) tasted a bit funny. Not off or busuk, but funny odd taste. After lunch, as I was driving back to the office with my old man ang-moh consultant, I had shortness of breath, dizzyness and rashes all over. I couldn't continue driving, and asked the ang-moh who barely knew the roads to drive back to the office. Then, got my bosses' driver to take me to SJMC. By that time, I was like a COOKED lobsters, all bloated and red, including my eyeballs. Had injections and then put on drip and had to stay overnight... Anyway, the allergy clinic therapist actually advised that I should carry anti-histamine or epi-pen with me always...in case I have another of such episodes and can't get to a hospital in time in this traffic-locked city.

My next treatment is tomorrow, and I have been asked to bring my slippers, shoes, floor cleaner, body cleanser to be tested against my body's tolerance. The treatment methodology involves "inverting" the electromagnetic waves of the allergic compound, say MSG and then introducing into the body. So, when the body encounters MSG later, the inverted wave will CANCEL OUT the MSG waves, ZERO-ing it. This treatment has been available in Germany for more than 20 years..... And I see loads of write-up in the UK too.
Will update on the progress....

Weird...

My maternal grandfather just passed-away. Some friends and relatives have called to offer their condolences. I find that I don't know how to respond to their condolences other than a simple "thanks". I feel weird rather than sad, because I hardly know my grandfather. When I spoke to my mom, she was sobbing away.... and my sis says she is a little sad. Me? Other than feeling worried about my mom, I really have no other emotions. Again, am I a cold heartless b!t#h? In my whole life, I have only met him twice face-to-face....the last time when I was about 8 years old, I think.... Anyway, will not be going back to KL for the funeral....very complicated. Well, could go on and on, but I will not.

May he rest in peace....

Hannah Montana Tour

My boys will surely whine about how things are being "UNFAIR" to them, if they find out that there is a Hannah Montana tour in the United States now, which they would not be able to attend. Knowing them, they would probably ask "why can't dad get a job in the States??". Yes. My boys do enjoy the show "Hannah Montana" on cable TV here. Surprised? Don't be! It's really quite an enjoyable show for both boys and girls...and parents too. If you get the chance to catch the performance, don't miss it! You can get your tickets from TicketSolutions.com.

Baby Sister???

If you are asking if I am pregnant, the answer is NO.

Just that after the fashionable birthday party yesterday, out of the blue, S2 says that he wants to be a BIG brother and doesn't mind having a baby sister after all. I do admit that many times, I do ponder if I should try for a girl, before my eggs go past their sell-by date! Whenever I see cute little girls with their pretty dresses and ribbons in their hair, I do have a wee bit of a yearning. It would be fun to shop for girls. Loads of girls stuff like clothes, hair clips and ribbons, handbags, cute shoes etc etc as compared with boring boys' shirt and shorts!
But I've not looked after a baby for more than 7 years. How am I going to cope? Sleepless nights, breastfeeding and all???? Plus I've given away all the baby gear. And that means that everything would have to be purchased again. The car seat, stroller, bottles, sterilizer, baby cots, linens, diapers and a whole caboodle of items!!! The list seems to be endless! Perhaps I should just wait for one of my sisters to have a baby girl! I could still dote on a girl with lovely girly gifts!!!

Fashionista!!!!

How often does one get invited to an 8-year old's Birthday Party at the Grand Ballroom at the GRAND HYATT??

When S2 brought back the invitation card for a FASHION Birthday Party, and said "Fashion is for GIRLS! I don't want to go".... I was quick to say "Noooooooo....we will go!!!". It was definitely a first for me!!! Sorry lah...very sann-par (country bumpkin).

Some of my friends decided not to go as they didn't want their "normal" kids to demand for such birthday parties, i.e. to be held in grand ballrooms and such. I summore confidently told my friends "Aiya...our kids won't ask for such parties one lah..." As it is, after the party, S2 did say that he wants to have a party in a hotel. HeeeHeee More about that later.

Happily, I trot off with S2 to the party with my camera in hand. When I whipped my camera out, I found that I've forgotten the memory card. ALAMAK!! So have to use my camera phone.

As usual, there was a reception table at the entrance to the ballroom for guest sign-in. As ALL birthday gifts are to be donated to the orphanage, guests could purchase milk powder and stationary to be given as donation. I didn't bring a gift, so bought some items to be donated.

Each kid were given some vouchers... for Photo, Make-Over and Glitter Tattoo. S2 and I posed for the photo which came out as the "Cover of Elle Magazine". Quite nice. Of course S2 didnt use the make-over voucher. He did get a "dagger tattoo".

And models wannabes can register to take part in the Modelling Contest, and will be given a number.

There were also games for the kids to play, and they would get tokens that can be exchanged for prizes.

The highlight of the Party was the Modelling Contest and a Fashion Show. The Fashion Show showcased designs by the 8-year old birthday girl. Yup! You heard me right. She designed some clothes that were then tailored and modelled by some selected kids.

Food-wise...there were loads. There were local delicacies, teppanyaki, pasta station, kiddie section, ice-cream section, dessert section and a chocolate fountain too.

On our way home after the party...

S2: My party... I'm going to have fashion show for the girls and then for the boys blah blah blah..

Me: And where are you going to have it?

S2: In the hotel lah..

Me: Do you see a machine in the Office upstairs that goes ka-ching, ka-ching and money comes out from it?

S2: Errr...No. But I have ALLOWANCE!

Me: Your allowance of USD 1 a week? One year is 52 weeks, which gives you USD 52/-. I don't think that is going to be able to rent the ballroom. Errr...in fact, I don't think that we can rent a table in the hotel.

S2: Yeah. Yeah... I know. We are different. We are the same but we are different. They are richer...blah blah blah...

Then we went on talking about CHESS. He got a chess set from the party.

Me: I don't know how to play chess.

S2: Why? Because chess is a men's game?

Me: Not exactly a men's game. But I think men are more interested in Chess than women are.
S2: WOMEN are just interested in...SHOPPING! ...And going to the malls...... And drinking coffee!

Hahahahah... That does sound like us WOMEN, yeah??

Customization

Some folks are really into customizing their cars. They'll install spoilers to add to the style appeal as well as to improve the aerodynamics. Or chrome grilles to add pizazz. Or specialty headlights to look more aggressive and powerful. There are loads of accessories out there in the marketplace to customize any car to be "one of a kind". But did you know that the Chrysler 300 is one of the most customizable vehicles? Do you own one? Thinking of customizing your car? Do you know where to find the right Chrysler 300 accessory that would be YOUR style?

Chicken Pie Recipe

CHICKEN PIE
made by S1
This recipe makes about 25 mini pies

Pastry
7 oz Butter
1 lb All-Purpose Flour
1 Egg
2 tsp Sugar
4 tbsp Cold Water

Chicken Filling
5 Chicken Legs (remove the skin, debone and dice)
1 Cup Diced Carrots
1 Cup Diced Potatoes
1 Cup Diced Onions
1 Cup Frozen Corn
1 Cup Sliced Mushrooms
Some Chopped Garlic
Some Powdered Chicken Stock
Little Corn Flour

Filling Seasoning
Oyster Sauce for Chinese Style, OR
1 Can Cream of Mushroom Sauce

For the chicken filling, I've made both the Chinese Style and the Western-Style. Both also taste good. So, it's up to you which seasoning you wanna use. But the method of making it is basically the same. The vegetables, you can add or omit. Normally, I don't really measure. I just estimate as some carrots are bigger than others.

Method for Chicken Filling
1a) For chinese-style, marinate chicken with the oyster sauce, chicken stock and corn flour. Leave to rest for a while.
1b) For Western-Style, same as 1a but omit the oyster sauce.
2) Fry garlic until fragrant, and then add all the other vegetables and chicken.
3a) For Chinese-Style, make sure the filling is a little bit wet as you don't want it to be too dry. Cook till veges are soft and chicken is cooked.Leave aside when done.
3b) For Western-Style, stir-fry for about 5 minutes, then add in the can of mushroom soup. Do not add more water. When chicken and veges are done. Set aside to cool.

Method for Pastry
1) Rub the block butter and flour together until it resembles breadcrumbs.
2) Add in the sugar.
3) Make a well in the centre of the mixture, put in the egg and the 4 tbsp of cold water.
4) Bring mixture together to form a dough, and gently knead.
5) Wrap the dough with cling wrap and rest the dough in the fridge for about 1/2 hour.

Method of Assembly
1) Roll the dough on a floured surface and press into the pastry moulds.
2) Spoon the filling into the pastry moulds, and cover with more rolled pastry.
3) Cut off excess pastry if necessary.
4) Using a fork, press along the edge of the pastry moulds to create the ridges and to seal the pie.
5) Brush with beaten egg, and poke the tops with toothpicks to allow the steam to escape.
6) Bake in approx 180 deg C for about 30 to 40 minutes (depends on your oven).

Have you heard of Quibblo?
It is an online site with all sorts of quizzes under the sky that you can ever think of! They range from funny quizzes to cheer up your blue Mondays to the more serious ones like medical and religion. What I think would be of great fun are the Movie Quizzes! I am sure by boys would absolutely be thrilled with them. With this site, I won't have to be the one answering their own-concocted quizzes!

Another Cha-Pa-Lang Post

S1's Bruise
Here is a picture of S1's bruised palm from Tuesday's Ice-Skating outing. Doesn't look that bad lah... His belly one..too dark lah, cannot see.

Update on FIL
H just called to inform that his father had done the angio and the balloon stent simultaneously. Could hear that he was smiling when he said "doctor says with this heart, he will live forever"... I am glad to hear that H is more himself today. BTW, he is away on business since yesterday, and it was rather difficult when we were "arguing" over the phone over my "unconcerned" attitude. Anyway, all is well now....

Feeling Sien
Lately, have been feeling rather sien. My sis kept on asking if I am pregnant. Well, the answer is a BIG FAT NO! My P came yesterday... My moods are also not very good lately....blowing up at the kids, and S1 would be upset and would be screaming back at me with "it's just a small matter. Why are you freaking out and screaming???". But it's the little things that accummulates and gets to you. Do you know what I mean? I am trying to control by not starting the day with shouting...but when the bus is at the door, and the boys are still dragging their feets looking for storybook, for socks or whatever, you say you shout for them to hurry up to the bus or not???

Pineapple Tarts
H has been bugging me about making pineapple tarts for the last 2 months. And I've been putting it off forever. Since I've upset him yesterday with my "unconcerned" attitude, I baked a batch of pineapple tarts today as a "pou-seong" (compensation). Made the mistake of following the recipe without tasting the pineapple first. The pineapple was ripe and sweet. So, with the addition of sugar as per the recipe has resulted in OVER-Sweetness. But overall, am quite pleased with the results. But could be better lah.

Friend T Over
S1's friend T is over at our place now. He will be sleeping over tonight. Boys are all in the pool now, and I have to sit here to supervise them. See S2's head in the pool?

Gaming...

H and I recently watched a series about casino and gaming on DVD. The story revolves around a pair of brothers, whereby one of the brothers could memorize each and every single card, whilst they were being shuffled on the poker tables. Naturally, he won every single game. Well, this is just make-believe BUT I wonder if there is such a person out there in this world that has this ability. What do you think?

Indifference

I probably will be chastised or cursed by writing this post....

My SIL called to inform that my FIL had a heart attack and has been admitted to the ICU. She called me because she couldn't get H. So, I called H later. But his sis managed to inform him prior to my call. H was upset that I didn't sound "CONCERNED" about his father.
Before anyone starts screaming "EVIL DIL"......
I do not have any relationship whatsoever with my FIL. My PIL are divorced, due to third-party intervention. Know what I mean?
Well, sure... I knew FIL before H and I were married. But that was "Hi uncle. Bye. Uncle". Yup. That was it. And after my PIL's divorce, I absolutely did not see nor talk to my FIL. No. He was not invited to our wedding. So...in short. I don't really know this man leh.
The only CONCERN that I have is for my husband, as to how he is taking the news. Rather than for my FIL per se. Sorry...lah. Call me evil or whatever..
And somemore hor...when my SIL went to see him, he was like "no money for medical. pei ngor sei lah. pei ngor sei lah". Geez!!! He is one lucky man whose children still cares for him, and they are going to foot his bill lah. I could go on but think I should stop now lah...
*sigh* got some expiring paid post to do summore...

Project Work?

I was having a nap this afternoon when I got a call on my mobile. It was my client on the line. I hoped that he couldn't tell that I was asleep! We had a short teleconversation on the recent meeting that I had with their client. There is potential for a project that encompasses the revamp of a major equipment at the plant. It seems that my client may require my expertise in budgeting and planning for this potential project. I have been asked to do some further investigations. Better get to work!

Cha-Pa-Lang Post...

Maid

Despite my recent yellings, my maid DID come back to work after the holidays. So...I guessed I wasn't as horrible as my friend says :-D

Diving...

Well, since the maid was back, we (both H and I) dumped the boys at home on Monday (15th Oct) and we went to the Thousand Islands to practise our diving. H wanted us to practise so that we could visit the Great Barrier Reef. Wouldn't want to have them BANNING me forever, right? Hahahah. This time, I used 4 kg weights instead of 5. At least I didn't FALL LIKE A BRICK this time. The visibility was still very bad, at about 5 meters only. We did two dives, each was about 25 minutes long. This time, I didn't stuff myself with lunch before my 2nd dive. I was very conservative with my food-intake. kekekek.... Not seeing my lunch again made it a better experience overall! The current was MEGA strong... I was like swimming swimming swimming but NOT moving at all. Not one bit. Anyway, it was a day trip and by the time I reached home at about 4.40 pm, I was a wash-out. Showered and had an hour nap. And went to bed proper before 9 pm.

Entertaining the Boys

During this mid-term break, boys of course were glued in front of some kind of screen. Be it the TV or PC. Managed to pry them off from the screens to do some Math problems. Did take them to watch a movie and ice-skate yesterday. Wa-liow!! The mall was MEGA-packed man!! Boys had a hard time ice-skating. S1 got knocked down a few times. Had a bruise on his palm and the side of the belly (Sis - don't tell grandma!!!!! Skali I get scolding!). Anyway, they have two friends over now... what are they doing? Playing games. What else??? On the bright side, school starts tomorrow. YIPPEE!!!

Pui-Fook

I very "pui-fook" bloggers that can upkeep more than one blog!! I itchy-fart went to start a food blog but also never update it. So pathetic. How do people maintain 3, 4, 5 or more blogs??? Think I will abandon my food blog and just taroh everything in this one blog lah....

What is Worse?

Itch or Pain?

For me.... think Itch is worse!

My feet are still giving me problems. I have spurts of itchiness that comes and goes. And when there is an ITCH ATTACK, if there is such a term.... I will be scratching like there is NO tomorrow. Most times to the extent that my skin comes off and some bleeding occurs. H of course always screams at me, and says that this is liken to those "Self-torture fanatics that whip themselves until they bleed".
I have tried using all sorts of creams, moisturizers to steroid types, but to NO avail!!!
Am I allergic to something in my food? drink? air?
H wants to ship me off to Singapore to get it sorted out. But I told him to give me another couple of weeks. I will see an allergy specialist ....hopefully sometime this week to sort out what the f#@k it is that I am allergic to. *sigh* This is really affecting the quality of life ... I would literally spend 1/2 an hour sorting out my feet! Such a waste of time!!!
Scratch until it bleeds? Pain?
Pain. I can handle. I remember when I had S1. Caesar. I was put on morphine for the pain. But I had an allergic reaction to the drug which caused itchiness ALL over the body. I was so blardy irritated as scratching didn't alleviate the itchiness. I couldn't sleep either. And the worst of all, H was SNORING ZZZZZZ so nicely in the pull-out sofa-bed next to mine. It really p!ssed me MAX when he was sleeping so comfortably while I was suffering. I just couldn't stand the itch that I declined further dose of the morphine. I really did prefer the pain!!

Youth Today

Why is it that these days, one hears so much about drug addiction and abuse among the youths? Is is because that there is no parental guidance? Or is it that societal morals have diminished? Or is it today's everyday stresses have driven our youths to seek refuge in drugs? To have that moment of calmness or feeling of utopia?
Whatever the reasons may be; drug addiction is detrimental if NOT curbed. Should you find a loved one, relative or friend in this whirlpool of addiction, do seek professional help from drug rehab clinics.

Sydney....

{Sponsored Post}

Have you been to Sydney, Australia?
It is the largest and oldest city in Australia, and constantly mistaken to be the capital city. It is blessed with many attractions, notably its twin famous landmarks: The Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.

There's other attractions such as Bondi Beach, Taronga Zoo, The Rocks, Darling Harbour, Sydney Observatory and the list goes on. There's something for everyone in Sydney.

The last time I was in Sydney, I had a 14-month old in tow. But we still managed to have fun. We stayed in a serviced accommodation in North Sydney, right across from the Opera House and bridge. The view was absolutely spectacular. We also strolled along the Sydney Harbour, had lovely seafood lunch at Darling Harbour, visited Tarango Zoo, took a lazy afternoon cruise around and much much more.

Would I want to visit Sydney again?
DEFINITELY!
But this time, as we would have to pay for our own accommodation, I'll need to look for Cheap Sydney Hotels that are clean, convenient and affordable.

Urgh! More Shopping...

We stayed home the whole of yesterday....literally "rotting" in front of the idiot box. So, today...we decided to venture out of our worm hole. And where do we go? Err.. to the shopping mall lor. Where else? The driver is still off, so we had to go to somewhere that we know the roads to and fro... :-D

Wa....the mall was very very packed. Anyway, we had brunch in a fancy food court. S1 had Japanese, S2 Italian, H Chinese and I had Malaysian. Everybody happy!

After that, go jalan-jalan lah. Aiya... DEBENHAMS having a SALE wor... Buy 2 get 3 !!! Sure I gian and go look-see lah. The boys?? H took them to a neighboring mall that has DVDs and Games... so, the boys were all out of my hair. Leave me to shop in peace!

Here are my booty...

Red Herring Knitted Poncho
(that is if that's what it's called. When I wore it to show H, and asked him how do I look? He said "I donno what to say!" Ugly meh? I thought quite nice what...)

Women's Secret PJs
(donno why...but I lurve Women's Secret PJs wor....)

Presence Underwear x 6 Pairs
Debenhams DIVA Key-Chain and Magnets
(err..I used the Key-chain liow so the bottom box empty ...heheheh)

All this costs about RM 220/-. Would have bought more stuff if the boys didn't come back sooooo soon. :-) Also good lah.. Shouldn't spend so much lah..

Oh yeah.. You all sure say I STOOOOOPID one. We were in the Bottega Veneta Shop, and H was already whipping out his credit card to buy me the pair of BV sunglasses, and I said NO. And off we went...OUT of the BV shop... SITUPID wifey, right???

Good Housekeeping???

This long weekend, have no maid... so have to be the "maid"... Err...not that I did any cleaning... Told boys to tidy up their own mess, and luckily toilets also not busuk. So... live with it lah...

But have to make the chicken pie since the filling already done. S1 helped out.. I rolled the pastry and put it in the pastry cups. He filled it up with the chicken filling, I cover it with more pastry. He used a fork to create those ridges at the side of the pie, poke the top of the pies and then brush the tops with beaten egg. Looks okay, right???

Also, to bought some heliconias to decorate the house... H said "laeng, meh??? All hanging out like that??" I thought it looks okay what!!

Also bought some gerberas...and arranged them in a little glass. H said "luckily you studied to be an engineer and not a florist!!!". I know my arrangement looks a bit sad!! What to do???

Drug Rehabilitation

What is Drug Rehabilitation?

You hear it in the news. You hear it in movies. You read in the gossip magazines.
But what exactly does drug rehabilitation mean?
Drug rehabilitation is the medical or psychotherapeutic treatment for the dependency on prescription drugs, "recreational drugs" such as heroin or cocaine, and alcohol. The treatment objective is to enable the patient to stop his/her addiction on these substances.
If you have a loved one that requires drug rehabilitation, always seek professional help.
